It’s not every day that I am truly blown away by a particular cosmetic range but The Ordinary Skincare has won a place in my vanity case and daily skincare ritual forever more. If you’re an Ordinary Skincare virgin, it’s one of the most affordable lines by revolutionary skincare company Deciem. You can buy products in the UK from several different online retailers with fast delivery but if you’re wondering where to buy The Ordinary Skincare in France, read on…
What’s so great about The Ordinary?
There’s nothing ordinary about The Ordinary at all in fact. You couldn’t fail to love the philosophy behind Deciem The Abnormal Skincare Company which is the name of the umbrella of skincare brands launched by founder Brandon Truaxe. In short, with this range, Truaxe brings otherwise out of reach formulations to people like you and I. What he offers is amazing value, high quality, high performance skincare products that challenge over priced competitors with simple packaging and no nonsense promises.
Where Can I Buy The Ordinary Skincare In France?
Claire Jones of Vata Beauty in SW France is fast becoming one of France’s best regarded and talented wedding makeup artists. She really knows her stuff. When she’s not working at sumptuous French wedding venues in Provence or further afield, Claire has a fantastic treatment studio in La Charente, Nouvelle Aquitaine. I have previously trusted Claire to perform Microdermabrasion ( with fab results ) and had my first Shellac in her studio.
Having fallen in love with the first product I got from The Ordinary, I was so pleased to discover that Claire at Vata Beauty is one of the new registered The Ordinary Skincare retailers in France. Claire is delighted to be part of this exciting development in the skincare world. The quiet hum about The Ordinary Skincare is getting progressively ever louder, within weeks of release they had already sold millions of products, now Claire too has had to restock her store within a matter of days of launching. For us lovers of all things beauty living in France, it’s great to know there is an official retailer close by. Claire has stocked her shelves with The Ordinary, NIOD, Hylamide and a handpicked collection of some of her other favourite skincare, haircare and nailcare brands adding each to her new online French beauty shop with delivery all over France.
The formulas may seem at first a trifle complicated to understand which is why is it great to buy from a professional in the industry to explain what all those X Y and Z of bizarre sounding ingredients actually do. There’s a whole science about which products to use with others and in which order which doesn’t actually require a science degree but a fair bit of concentration!
The technologies are Matrixyl 3,000 peptide complex (with palmitoyl-pentapeptide 35), Matrixyl Synthe’6 peptide complex (with palmitoyl tripeptide-38), Syn-Ake peptide complex (with dipeptide diaminobutyroyl benzylamide diacetate), Relistase peptide complex (with acetylarginyltryptophyl diphenylglycine)
Seriously, don’t be blinded by the science, start with a few basic products and then, taking advice from a professional like Claire, add to your regime. There are a lot of products in the collection but these are my current favourites.
Start With The Basics
One of the first products I got from The Ordinary in France was Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%. The combination of 23% Ascorbic Acid, Vitamin C Suspension combined with Hyaluronic Acid brightens skin and protects against ageing. I put on a pea sized amount before bed and have found it makes skin look nourished and fresh first thing, even tanned bizzarely.
For day, I had heard great things about Buffet Serum, a fantastic cocktail of peptides to fight the signs of ageing. Do you know what? It actually really works – from the moment it touches your skin the appearance is dramatically improved – plumped, nourished and fresh looking.
Over the top of this I add Niacinamide 10% + 1% Zinc which deals with just about everything: reduces fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmented spots, redness and skin sallowness whilst increasing elasticity. It can help to alleviate the symptoms of rosacea by oomphing up the hydration and barrier function of the uppermost layer of skin. This stuff is fabulous!
I then finish with Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA, a non-greasy moisturizer that protects and nourishes and effectively hydrates skin. There’s nothing fancy about this moisturizer but it really is very hydrating and stays that way all day.
The Ordinary Skincare range is unperfumed which might not be to everybody’s taste. I would say it just takes a bit of getting used to. The lack of fragrance does mean that you do focus on the active effect of each product rather than just the pretty smell. It’s interesting what we will put on our skin just because the fragrance pleases us, regardless of the results.
I’m not one for a complicated skincare regime but I love, love, love this little collection of products I have been using from The Ordinary. During the past few weeks I have honestly noticed a much clearer, even complexion and far softer skin. I’m loving the fact that I am not wasting money trying and buying disappointing skincare products and I think my lines and dark patches might just be improving too. I wasn’t expecting miracles but I love this brand and the fact I can now buy The Ordinary Skincare in France. Not forgetting of course, my far healthier looking wallet – all four of these products come in at less than 33 euros. What’s not to love about that?!
Have you tried The Ordinary yet? I’d love to hear from you x
