So far this summer’s weather has been somewhat hit and miss hasn’t it? So if you’re planning on heading off for a festival weekend somewhere, chances are you’ll probably need some jolie wellies to go along with. Butterfly Twists make the most stylish folding wellingtons, sandals and ballet pumps, a dream for the intrepid explorer or festival dweller. I was lucky enough to receive a pair of Windsor Wellingtons priced at £55 from their current collection in striking red with a smart black trim.
My favourite luxury jewellery designer Nicola Rees Mumford of Edith & Kiveen put them to the test in her beautiful French garden in South West France.
Butterfly Twists wellingtons fit neatly into a tote bag so you’re never caught on the hop whether on a weekend away or hot footing from the tube to the office. They’re also really practical for warmer climates as they’re cut from a unique soft rubber that’s comfortable to wear against skin with shorts or a skirt.
Nicola kindly popped them on for a tour around her French garden, they look fabulous with her Comptoir des Cotonniers dress.
” The very first thing that struck me about the Windsor Wellingtons was how incredibly comfortable there were mainly because of their lovely padded sole and also the softness of the fabric. “
I could have done with these last year at Glastonbury to keep my feet warm and dry!
The Butterfly Twists fashion wellies make dressing for inclement weather a breeze with their range of memory foam wellingtons. We thought they were perfect for deadheading the roses and weeding the veggie garden in. The fact they also fold down as small as a regular shoe makes them just the ticket for more glamorous outings like festivals and parties – so comfy for dancing about under the stars! Even in more British than balmy weather, Nicola’s French home provides the perfect escape from London life; a place to relax, be creative and enjoy the simple things in life.
” Our garden has been nearly 15 years in the making, from a formal rose garden to a potager where we’re able to grow enough salad and vegetables to feed us and our guests all summer – it’s the first place we head for on arriving at the house to grab our supper!”

The garden is so peaceful here, even in the rain. The gentle coo of turtle doves, church bells and rich colourscape are a constant source of inspiration to Nicola when designing her jewellery collections.
I do love festival style and you don’t have to be at a festival to wear it…
Butterfly Twists wellingtons come in many colours and designs from fur trims to vibrant yellow and each pair is delivered with it’s own handy storage bag, ideal for travelling. Nicola has a meticulous eye for style and quality and thought the Windsor in particular was perfect for an afternoon away from the drawing board gardening.
“Overall I really loved the Windsor Welly, the softness of the fabric makes it both comfy and perfect for packing. The vibrant colours make them really fun to wear when pottering in our garden on those not quite so warm and sunny days! “
