Creating A French Style Capsule Wardrobe

We all love that classic French chic look don’t we? The key ingredients for any French fashion wardrobe are comfort, neutral shades, versatility, and streamlined pieces. When building your French capsule wardrobe, you should always begin with the staples.

Read on to create your very own French style capsule wardrobe with plenty of je ne sais quoi!

Oxford shirt – There is only one place to begin building your capsule French style wardrobe and that is with a CWS – the crisp white shirt! The number one staple of any French wardrobe: the Oxford button-down shirt in white is without a shadow of a doubt, the most versatile and reliable garment any femme could wish for in her spring closet. It can be worn anywhere with anything, making it the perfect staple. It is also perfect for conveying that look that is highly polished yet undeniably effortless. It epitomises everything that French fashion is about, so allez, get one vite!

LBD – A little black dress is something that every one of us should have in their wardrobe, no matter your sense of style. You can always rely on an LBD if you are unsure of what to wear. But, why is this a staple of a French inspired wardrobe? Because it is a garment that is all-occasion appropriate, practical, and simple. A black dress always gets the job done.

Breton Tee – No French inspired wardrobe would be complete without the classic Breton Tee. Stripes have become a classic all over the world, but there is no denying that France has made stripes their own. Black and white stripes epitomise casual style. Once you have added the traditional monochrome Breton tee to your wardrobe, you can start experimenting with different colour stripes.

A Cashmere Sweater – A classic cashmere sweater slung casually over your shoulders is a sure fire way to earn some French style points. The soft weave and chic fit make it a stylish way to wear wool – not too bulky so perfect under a blazer or classic biker jacket.

Floral A-line skirt – The final flourish for your capsule wardrobe and a surprisingly harmoniously partner for your Breton top is a full floral skirt.   Taifun Fashion has some  lovely elegant but comfortable styles – taming a prom style into a more breezy and soft style. While we love a pencil skirt, an A line is more in trend and comfortable to wear.

So voila 5 key pieces to start building your classic French wardrobe from. Bon shopping x

Interesting idea of creating French Style Capsule Wardrobe, I realized while trying to do a capsule wardrobe that I actually don’t have that many clothes and I wear everything I own. I like this idea of getting people thinking about what your basics are and also not challenging people to stop buying altogether (I tried that and it was far too hard, really not for me). It will be good to hear how you get on with it all.
