An Easy Spring Clean in 5 Steps

Spring cleaning 5 stepsI love a good old spring clean don’t you? There’s something so nice about the first of the warm spring days, flinging open the windows and getting the house in order after winter! Those spring days will be upon us before we know it and the very act of Spring Cleaning can be a really cathartic process. What’s more, once you’ve had a good old clear out and clean you can enjoy a restyle and personalise your home decor from a clean, fresh and blank canvas.

Spring is a vibrant and energetic season and you know what they say about a tidy house and a tidy mind! So, here goes! Spring cleaning in 5 easy steps.

  1. DECLUTTER

If you are always searching through clutter to find your car keys, or frantically searching through drawers before dashing off on holiday in a desperate attempt to find your passport – then you could certainly benefit from this advice.  A cluttered house does lead to a cluttered mind and does nothing for the aesthetic of your home.  If you have a lot of stuff you are sentimentally attached to, then getting a self storage unit could be a good option as they can essentially offer an extra room to just store stuff.

Decluttering your home is a natural precursor to the next step of getting organised. what better way to say Au Revoir to all that clutter once and for all?

  1. GET ORGANISED

Most people need some form of order in their life in order to feel calm, centred, grounded and balanced.  This sense of emotional stability is closely linked to the feeling of stability and order you feel within your home life.  Now that you’ve decluttered your home, you need to get organised, which sounds like a drag but the time investment will pay off as it will make your life a lot easier in the long run.

  1. GET RID OF JUNK

Whether it’s removing the internal clutter from your house or removing garden waste it can take a amount of time and effort if you do it yourself.  However, there is a surprising amount of money to be made for people willing to clear other people’s junk; and although junk removal prices vary hugely based on the area in which you live, there’s a strong chance it will be higher than what you might expect.  In the alternative, you could hire a van for a day or two and use this to cart rubbish to a local refuse site.

  1. CLEANSE

The act of cleaning your home isn’t a purely physical experience; it has clear practical benefits but there are significant emotional benefits to cleaning too.  It can be so therapeutic to go through your home and clean every corner of it as this process will cleanse the energy and emotion stored within your home, and can be a very soothing experience. Especially important after winter open fires or the dust from woodburning stoves settles in.

  1.  RENEW

Now that your home is fresher, freshen up by adding a lick of paint to the walls where you need it, change the rug, or purchase some new items for a mini restyle.  If you’re on a budget, then consider upcycling some of your old furniture and revamping it to freshen up the look and feel of your home.

All ready for a spring clean? What are you waiting for?!
